I'm Aging

I’m aging. I know that we’re aging in every moment. As each year passes we see the results too. Just yesterday, I was a teen trying to decide which school to attend. Look at me now.

Help! Someone or something has taken over my face, my body even. Where did my smooth baby face disappear to? Who is this alien woman staring back at me in the mirror?  All I see is this aging face of mine.

I see wrinkles, bags, saggy skin and ugh, grey hairs. When did they become the norm? As soon as I cover them with my magic hair colour they sprout again and more each time.

It says right on the box, permanent hair colour. What’s the deal? I want my money’s worth. I should only have to do this hair wash every six months. Better yet, once a year to get my hair back to its rightful colour.

Shoot all of those hair expert and big, money making, rip off, hair companies who only set us up temporarily. We can’t win.

I need a cure for the laugh lines around my eyes and mouth. Maybe if I stopped laughing so much they’d go away. Nah, still there and worse when I frown. Thank goodness the lines on my forehead don’t show.

I like turtles but I don’t want to look like one. Yet there it is, a neck like a turtle all crinkly with wrinkles.

Nobody ever told me it would be like this. I keep hearing that forties is the new twenty. Bah, sure doesn’t look like it from where I’m standing.

Now the body, that’s another story. The girls (boobs) have disappeared after the kids had their go at them. I tell everyone that I lost the stuffing out of them when breastfeeding was over. Gosh, they were so big and pretty too. I was very proud of them you know.

Every thing that I eat seems to find a comfort zone in my butt and waistline. I don’t know how much more of this I can take. I guess it’s time to make friends with the gym again and anti aging creams too.

Once upon a time, I used to love the gym. I loved going there and working out and checking out the guys too of course. Sad to say we’ve skipped each other lately.

I guess part of aging is acceptance. I have to learn to accept the things I can change, yada, yada………. It’s just not in my nature. I have to go down kicking and screaming before I learn acceptance.
